Our Vineyards

Garnet Valley Vineyard is the heart of Solvero Wines and a defining part of our story in Summerland, British Columbia. The vineyard is planted on steep slopes with glacial soils that include sand, gravel, rock, and loam. These changing soil conditions help shape vine growth, fruit concentration, and the overall character of the wines. For us, the vineyard is not just a source of grapes. It is the starting point for everything we make.

The Garnet Valley site asks for careful vineyard management. The slope affects drainage and exposure. The soils affect root development and vine balance. The climate in Summerland also plays a role, making each growing season different from the last. Because of this, our approach to viticulture is based on observation and practical decisions rather than routine. We farm the vineyard with attention to what the land is telling us.

Grapevines are the central crop at Garnet Valley, but the vineyard is managed as part of a wider living system. Biodiversity is important here. We want the site to stay healthy and active, with space for more than just rows of vines. That means protecting the land, supporting the surrounding environment, and keeping long-term vineyard health in mind. Sustainable farming is part of that work, and it matters to the future of the vineyard as much as the current vintage.

Our farming philosophy follows la lutte raisonnée, or the reasoned struggle. In practical terms, this means making careful choices in the vineyard based on the conditions of each season. It is a thoughtful, site-driven approach to vineyard management and winemaking. We do not force the vineyard to fit a fixed idea. We respond to the season, the soil, and the vines themselves. That is what allows the fruit to reflect Garnet Valley in a clear and honest way.

Most of the grapes we work with come from Summerland vineyards, and that local source is central to the identity of Solvero Wines. Summerland offers a distinct growing environment within the Okanagan Valley, and those conditions are reflected in the fruit. The vineyard site, the climate, and the soil all contribute to the style of the wines. For anyone interested in British Columbia wine, the connection between vineyard and bottle is an important part of understanding what makes Solvero different.

The vineyard also reflects the kind of wine we want to make. We believe that premium BC wine starts with thoughtful farming and a deep respect for place. That begins in the vineyard, continues through harvest, and carries into the winery. The work is steady, and it is not always simple, but that is what makes the wines feel connected to the land. The grapes come from a site with real character, and that character carries through in the finished wine.

At Solvero, our Summerland vineyard is more than a growing area. It is a working landscape, a farming decision, and the base for our wines. Garnet Valley, vineyard management, biodiversity, sustainable viticulture, and honest farming all come together here. The result is wine that speaks clearly of place, climate, soil, and season.
